Layout Guide

The best Build A Ring Farm layout, stage by stage

Your farm's income is mostly a placement problem: the Outer Ring multiplies harvests by 19x, the Base Ring by 7x. This guide gives you a proven layout for each stage of the game — with real numbers, not vibes — and loads any of them straight into the Layout Planner.

Three layouts that carry you to endgame

Each layout is computed with the real harvest formula at a typical seed level for that stage, no mutations. Open one in the planner and swap in your own seeds and plot counts.

Early game · under $10M

Fast-turnover starter layout

$$5.48k/s

$$59.70k per full harvest · seed level 5

Early on, grow speed beats unit price: Carrot matures in 3 seconds, so it can flood the Base Ring with steady cash while Blueberry and Corn cover the outer zones. Sell everything, buy Seed Luck upgrades, and reroll toward Epic seeds.

Middle Ring 13× Blueberry8$$12.70k$$1.41k/s

Mid game · $10M to $1T

Legendary-to-Prismatic bridge layout

$$469.35k/s

$$21.94M per full harvest · seed level 8

Once you can afford Legendary and Secret seeds, unit price starts to matter. Banana keeps the Base Ring busy, Starfruit earns real money in the Middle Ring, and your first Prismatic — Pineapple — belongs on the Outer Ring. Add a Void Spray to the Pineapple when you hit $10B.

Transcended endgame layout

$$10.56M/s

$$579.36M per full harvest · seed level 10

Endgame is about filling the 19x Outer Ring with the highest unit-price seed you own. Ghost Pepper ($500k a unit) on the Outer Ring outearns everything below it; Dragonfruit holds the Middle Ring and Pineapple recycles the Base Ring. Layer Rainbow or better mutations on the outer crops first.

Calculate the Outer Ring crop

All numbers use the base harvest formula (unit price × 1.25^(level−1) × ring multiplier) with no mutation and a 1x cash multiplier, at the stage's typical seed level. Mutations multiply everything again — see the calculator.

The four placement rules

Every good layout in Build A Ring Farm falls out of the same four rules. Follow them and your layout stays correct even as new seeds are added.

Best seed goes outside

The Outer Ring pays 19x — 171% more than the Base Ring. Whatever your single highest unit-price seed is, it belongs there. No exceptions.

Fast crops go inside

The Base Ring's 7x is the weakest multiplier, so give it crops that harvest constantly. A 3-second Carrot cycles ~18 times while a Ghost Pepper grows once.

Mutate the outer ring first

Mutations multiply the whole formula, so a 5x Rainbow on a 19x Outer Ring crop is worth far more than the same spray on a Base Ring crop. Spray outside-in.

Upgrade plots before swapping seeds

More plots on the Outer Ring beats a marginally better seed on fewer plots. Check the Upgrade Planner for the cheapest next plot expansion.

Layout questions, answered

What is the best layout in Build A Ring Farm?

Highest unit-price seed on the Outer Ring (19x), fast cheap crops on the Base Ring (7x), mid-value seeds on the Middle Ring (13x). Late game that means Ghost Pepper outside, Dragonfruit in the middle, and Pineapple inside.

Should I put my best seed on every ring?

No. Slow expensive crops waste the Base Ring's fast cycles. The Base Ring earns more from a 3-second Carrot loop than from one slow Transcended plant at 7x.

Does plant placement matter for mutations?

Weather events roll mutations per plant regardless of ring, but the payout is multiplied by the ring. That's why you apply sprays to Outer Ring crops first — the same mutation is worth up to 2.7x more there than on the Base Ring.

How many plots should each ring have?

Buy every Outer Ring plot you can afford first, then Middle, then Base. The example layouts use a 12/8/4 spread; your exact counts depend on your expansion upgrades.

Test your own layout before you rebuild

The Layout Planner runs the real formula across all three rings, and the calculator layers mutations on top.
